A once busy shopping district swallowed in flames...

A single bright star ascends to the night sky as fire trucks rush to the scene. Fire choppers dowse flames in an effort to calm the raging inferno. The star floats quietly over the scene for a moment before taking off in a flash.

A television anchorwoman reports...

Anchorwoman: This was the scene just minutes ago after a fierce battle between The Sentinel and the monstrous villain, Shisa. After nearly half an hour of chaotic flame spiting, Shisa was eventually defeated handily by the glowing guardian's light beams. Reports indicate, however, that a number of bystanders became unfortunate victims of this enormous battle. With the death count estimated at over one hundred.


Crying innocents crowd the streets hoping to glimpse a sign of their loved ones in the flaming rubble. Faces covered in dust and blood stream tears. Rescue crews pour in to assist them. A burning shop crumbles to the ground spreading ash and debris as crowds scatter.


Anchorwoman: This comes as growing doubts of our super-powered Protectors' ability to preserve lives in the face of growing evil... Does stopping the bad guys at all cost take priority over our personal safety and freedom. Or is the right to freedom and safety and the extent to which sacrifice is made ultimately decided by those who devote their lives to preserving it? One thing is for certain, as events such as this evening's become more and more common, more of us are losing faith in in our heroes.


The Sentinel, merely a bright light in the dark sky, disappears into the clouds.
